چکیده

Background: Carbon dioxide (CO2) embolism is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication of endoscopic surgery. While thyroidectomy superior to traditional open in terms cosmetic results, it may lead venous or fatal paradoxical CO2 embolism. involves the inadvertent injection carbon into large vein, artery, solid organ. The clinical manifestations can vary from asymptomatic neurological damage, cardiac failure, and even death, depending on rate volume entry patient’s general condition. This case enhance our understanding embolization during Case Presentation: report describes an incident which gas occurred right lobe isthmus thyroidectomy, resulting arrhythmia dramatic fluctuations circulation oxygen levels. operation was halted, stopped. surgical wound covered with saline gauze, patient inhaled 100% pure while undergoing aggressive repeated manual pulmonary recruitment maneuvers. Additionally, vasoactive drugs such as m-hydroxyamine ephedrine were administered aid treating position adjusted using Durant maneuver (partial left lateral Trendelenburg position). Following aforementioned treatments, ventricular transitioned back normal regular sinus rhythm, both levels stabilized. Conclusions: uncommon yet severe laparoscopic procedures. We anticipate that this particular will comprehension

Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy with Central Neck Dissection

Correspondence To the Editor: We have read with interest the article reported by Guo et al., [1] who performed a transoral thyroidectomy with central neck dissection on human cadavers by using a sublingual combined bilateral vestibular access. Interestingly, the described technique is identical to our approach that we published as a video paper in 2009. Although we could demonstrate the surgica...

Transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the trivestibular route

We recently experienced a case of transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via the trivestibular approach. We identified and preserved all neighboring critical structures during surgery. The patient was discharged on postoperative day 3. There were no complications in thyroid function, vocal cord function, or lower lip sense. Transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via a trivestibular approach provides a ...

A Cerebral Air Embolism after Endoscopic Treatment

A 77-year-old man with liver cirrhosis was admitted to our hospital in 2015. He was unconscious and his Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score was 10. The Hb level was 3.5 mg/ dL. Contrast CT showed esophageal varices and atrophy of liver, these findings indicated a suspicion of liver cirrhosis. We considered that the varix rupture and the resulting hemorrhagic shock were the main cause of the patient’...

Transoral thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy - A North American series of robotic and endoscopic transoral approaches to the central neck.

OBJECTIVE Most thyroid surgery in North America is completed via a cervical incision, which leaves a permanent scar. Approaches without cutaneous incisions offer aesthetic advantages. This series represents the largest series of transoral vestibular approaches to the central neck in North America, and the first published reports of robotic transoral vestibular thyroidectomy for thyroid carcinom...

Paradoxical Air Embolism during Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: A Case Report

Air embolism is a rare complication of percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Patent foramen ovale, which is necessary in fetal circulation, is a potential route for emboli arising from the venous system to enter the systemic arterial circulation, resulting in paradoxical air embolism syndrome. A case of paradoxical air embolism during percutaneous nephrolithotomy is presented. To our knowledge, this is...
